Overachiever or Overcomer …

Overcomer or Overachiever…Two words which have been used to describe my life in various seasons and perhaps yours as well.

On the surface, the latter defined most of the first half of my life…everything I set out to do I did at breakneck speed, with efficiency, with skill and until it was ‘perfect’.  A significant desire to please…to fit in…to measure up…to matter…to receive accolades and store up tangible accomplishments. Marriage, children, three teaching degrees, service to church, community, neighbors, friends and family.

Somewhere along the journey, at critical defining moments, these same qualities have transformed my life into that of a joyful overcomer…learning to balance all these areas that I truly love and make up who I am….love of adventure, a life long learner, a servant’s heart, an engaged people person, energetic, passionate…healing…whole.

At any given moment in our lives we can swing too far, to the extreme. With the measurement of the world it is never enough…i am never enough…we can never be enough. That is The LIE.

In her books ‘When Wall flowers Dance’ and ‘Do You Think I’m Beautiful?’ Angela Thomas asked me several years ago, if I recognized the whispers of unbelief which can paralyze my very soul. Those that could drive one back to the imbalance of coping through overachieving or passivity…or worse. Do you recognize them? Can you hear them? The Whispers of Comparison? Feelings of Too much? Feelings of Too little?

I DO believe. Help me overcome my unbelief! Mark 9: 24

With HIS measurement I am more than enough. I am blessed beyond measure…YOU are more than enough just as you are. Beautiful. Radiant. Handsome. Whole.  At any age, at any stage. We are more than enough. We are Overcomers.

The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17

Rejoice!

Be Amazed! Be Grateful!  Find Balance! Find PEACE!

It is indeed a Wonderful Life!

It is A Life worth Living.
