She could hear the phone as she pushed open the front door. Setting the bag of groceries on the island, she listened to the troubled voice on the other end, biting her tongue trying not to give unsolicited advice.
She released her tongue from betwixt her teeth which allowed it to move about as if on its own. Devoid of compassion and restraint, the words seemed to tumble out all at once” didn’t we just have this same conversation a few days ago?”
There it was. Out in the open. The “we’ve been here-done that- now Woman Up” Challenge. At the other end -Silence. Whew. Yet- Wait.
“So who made you the boss of me?”
Expected. Blaise’ ” Novice” she thought. Then..
“Everything’s always so easy for you. Why would I expect someone Like You to understand”?
“ah, that’s better ” she thought.
At her end now, Silence. Thoughts and visions streamed across her mind. “Really?” My story is why we met in the first place.” she said.
“I know, I know- but it’s so hard -you just don’t understand!”
Her reaction could so easily be something like, rough, impatient harsh. Yet her words were kind and gentle, “No you don’t understand. This is NOT the way God intended you to live.” She had a ready answer.
1Peter 3:15 … Always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you the reason for the Hope you have . But do it with gentleness and respect.
To be continued.
