An Open Letter to She Speaks…..Guest Reblog for Follow Friday

Wednesday night’s meet and greet was so lovely and intimate. Each of the 40 woman in the room ate, chatted, stood gave a brief, powerful testimony of what brought us to She Speaks2013 . One by one one we shared. Several in the room had me on the edge of my seat. Turning around to grab my dessert before the lovely, ever so efficient, wait staff could grab it first…I froze.

The soft voice that was now standing behind me, captivated. The title of her story sent shocks of electricity up and down my spine. “A story that needs to be told.” Whispered Holy Spirit

Turning to see who this kindred Story Teller might be, I heard “It’s not what was done to us nor what we might have done but what was done for us at The Cross”.

Introducing that Story Teller . Janee White Someone to watch. God has big plans for her and her story.

Dear She Speaks,

About 4 years ago, I heard about you for the first time.  But without believing what He said about me was true, I knew it wasn’t the right time for us to meet.

You see, God placed a story in me.  Yet, fear of ‘telling the truth’, anchored itself to my heart.  It held me captive, far away from the pages He gave me to write on.  And it silenced me from speaking the words He was asking me to speak.

But one day I realized, that with Him, all things are possible.

So I allowed the Cross to unlock the chains, and in March, I stepped out of my so-called comfort zone (prison), and booked a flight to come visit you.  I had no idea what you might look like; but I knew I would recognize you, because you were created in the image of God.

Though I spent months preparing for our first meeting, no one could have prepared for the beauty and comfort I found in your presence.

It was as if we had been life-long friends.  You saved me a seat at every meal, and in every class.  Every teaching was a letter written specifically to me; and every woman I met, was like a long-lost friend.  And that’s not all……

Somehow, though I only had 2 special appointments on my calendar, you made sure that I arrived for every Divine Appointment you scheduled for me.  For a moment, I questioned how it was possible for you to ’pull all that off’.  But in the end, I know exactly how it happened.

You said Yes to God; and He, in turn, said Yes to you.

Before the conference, I began boldly praying this prayer

“God, humble me in a ‘yes’; and grant me grace in the ‘not now”

And He did.  He granted me more grace (unmerited favor) than I could have ever imagined. His blessings rained down upon me; with messages of confirmation (in the no), and encouragement (in the not now); and when I asked God what my next steps were, He replied with one word – Compel.

In the end, though I originally hoped for something a little different, I knew my reward was never going to come in the form of a book deal or a speaking engagement.  My reward was in glorifying God; by becoming who He called me to be, and doing what He called me to do.

Even though I walked into She Speaks confident only in God –

I walked out of She Speaks confident in myself, my calling, and in my abilities.

Though it doesn’t seem to be enough, all I can say Thank You She Speaks!

Thank you for saying Yes to God.  Thank you for preparing a place for us to hear the His Voice; the Voice of Him who called us all to write and speak the words He placed on our hearts. Thank you for doing exactly what God has called you to do.

Your obedience reveals to us what is possible

when we fully believe what He says about us  is True.

Thank you She Speaks…..for all that you have done, all that you are doing, and for all that you are going to do through Compel and future conferences.  May God continue to bless you with double portions of favor, for your obedience to Him and His Call on your life.

Your Sister in Him,

Janee

  2. Your gifts may still be shared with so many, even a book or speaking engagement. You are doing what you felt you wanted with God’s input and allowing this to come to fruition.

    • Thank you so much for your encouragement! I can honestly say that I would not change a thing about my experiences. God answered every prayer and that is all I can ever ask of Him. My book, my life, my walk, is all in His Hands…..and what I have learned about trusting Him in every outcome, is priceless knowledge. I hope that this story encourages others to have the same faith in Him. Even when things don’t come out the way we would like them too……
