Today. Awakening in another city. Another time zone. Another climate.
Yesterday a gas fire. Today trying to stay cool.
Where the weekend focus will be holding one another up.
Where the remembrances are many the Rememberers few.
Years ago when these families, this Clan gathered there were dozens and dozens of StoryTellers, Singers, Songwriters, Hosts, Hostesses. Celebrations. Lots of time to sit a spell.
With greater frequency do the ‘Celebrations’ occur and with fewer respondents. The Generations have changed. The Old are passing. The Youth have dispersed.
I find myself joining many others to Celebrate and remember a very well respected, loved, influential man. My earthly Father passed away Sunday past. Very much surprising many, since by all appearances he was recovering well from a ‘minor’ heart attack and short hospital procedure a few weeks prior.
There’s something about the passing of a parent that marks ones’ Life. I’ve heard parents say the same about the passing of a child or their own Spouse.
Today and throughout this weekend we join with many others to Celebrate and remember the Life of Wayne R White, Sr. A weekend guaranteed to be full of laughter, tears, hugs, stories, photo albums and of course lots of Southern Food and Sweet Tea.
Many Blessings to you all. Until next time won’t you take time to sit a spell.
